Te Encanto El Concierto de Carlos Santana!

Hola Milagro,

Te quiero contar la historia de cuando yo te sentir mover por la primera ves. Mama y yo fuimos ha Las  Vegas, Nevada porque Mama tenina que presentar su trabajo sobre literature discussions. Mama's presentation was incredible; Mama is one the brightest and creative women in the world. Para celebrar Mama's exito fuimos ha ver Carlos Santana en el House of Blues. The environment at the House of Blues was electrifying--especially with the music blaring out of the surrounding speakers wooing eager fans towards the centerstage. Fifteen minutes before Santana came out, Mama told me she could feel you dancing to the music. I couldn't believe it, so Mama grabbed my hand and placed it directly over you. And for the first time, I felt you move--I was overjoyed! I couldn't imagine anywhere else I rather be than standing next to Mama with my hand over her belly and feeling you dance to the rhythm of the boisterous music. I have no doubt that you will be a talented dancer and a music/concert enthusiast. You kept dancing for several more songs and into Santana's opening song.

In memory of that jubilant and unforgettable day, I want to share with you a groovy Carlos Santana cancion llamada "Oye como va":

Que disfrutes y que siga el baile! Con mucho amor y carino, tu papa!

Week 19!

Can you believe this is the 19th week of our Milagro--it is truly unbelievable! In less than 24 hours, we will know if you are our baby boy or girl. Mom has already shared with you that we strongly believe you will be our first baby girl. But if you ask your abuelito Margarito te va decir, "yo se que eres un bebe nino!" Your abuelito Margarito so convincingly believes that you will be a baby boy que hasta empezo ha comprar jugetes para nino. Vamos a ver manana si eres en realidad nuestro milagro nina o nino. Pase lo que pase, nosotros te vas amar incondicionalmente!

Since this week we will know your sex, I wanted to share with you some pictures of how much you have grown over the past four and half months. In these four and plus months, you have grown super strong and healthy, so strong that you often stop mama in her tracks when you kick her belly.

Enjoy the pictures!

(9/28) Wedding Picture (Week 8); Not many people knew that during mama y papa's wedding you were already growing!

Process

So when your father and I first found out we were pregnant we signed up for a weekly email that would tell use about your process and what was happening with you.  What we have both enjoyed most is that each week it tells us the size you are by comparing you to a fruit, so here is the rundown:

Week 4 poppy seed
Week 5 sesame seed
Week 6 lentil
Week 7 blueberry
Week 8 kidney bean
Week 9 grape
Week 10 kumquat (your dad and I were confused this week, since we didn't know what a kumquat was!) Your were only an inch long at this point!
Week 11 fig
Week 12 lime You developed reflexes this week!
Week 13 medium shrimp about 3 inches long
Week 14 lemon
Week 15 apple (This is around the time your dad finally started feeling you.  I had been able to feel you move inside me for a couple weeks, but this particular week you pushed hard enough to be felt on the outside by your father).
Week 16 Avocado 4 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 ounces
Week 17 Turnip You doubled in weight this week, you are now 5 ounces and 5 inches long.
Week 18  Bell Pepper

I can't believe we still have 5 months to go! I wish time would fly by so we could finally meet you, but I know it's for the best, you are just not ready to come out.  We are all super excited that we will finally be able to see you this week through the ultrasound.  We only had one in the beginning when I first found out I was pregnant and you were just a little bean, but your father did see you move!

Beginning weeks

Beginning Weeks

We were overjoyed with the news of our milagro.  At first your dad and I both wanted you to be a boy.  I wanted a boy because I had your two brothers and thought I knew more about how to care for boys. As the pregnancy processed we started thinking you might be a girl.  The reason for this was that the pregnancy was so different from your brothers.  In the beginning, everything I ate made me feel nauseous.  I never even really felt like eating.

Your father and I decided to look online it she ways to tell whether we were going to have a boy or a girl.  Everything we read pointed to you being a girl, even the chinese gender chart.  Your father and I began to get used to the idea and even worked on naming you.  We wanted to pick a family name so if you are a boy you will be named Moises Ruben.  Girls names were much harder! We didn't like any names that were in the family so we started to look at list of names online. Somehow we came across the name Esmeralda.  I liked it because it represented Colombia, where my parents are from.  Your father wanted to use my middle name, Lucia, as your first name to call you Lucia Esmeralda, but I like it better Esmeralda Lucia Orozco (so this will be your name if you are a girl! This Friday, December 14th, 2012 will be our 19 week ultrasound to find out whether you are a boy or a girl ( I hope you cooperate).

So we figured out your name before telling your brothers.  Even before I hit the 12 week mark, your brothers knew something was up! Your your brother Poncho would rub my belly and say "mamá te estas poniendo gorda, a lo mejor tienes un bébé!" Your older brother Pepito always thought your dad and I would have a baby since we got married, so he would always say "they got married, now they are going to have a baby" even before I was pregnant. When we finally told them around week 12, they weren't at all surprised and received the news happily! We asked them whether they wanted you to be a girl or a boy and they both said girl.  Pepito said because we already had boys, but Poncho said "quiero que sea niña para que yo todavia sea el niño bébé!"  When we told the boys the names, Pepito found on one of his rock identifier sheets that Esmeralda was the May stone, which showed us we should definately use that name.  So now that we are at the end of week 18, we all talk to my belly and call you Esmeralda or Esme for short!

On August 29, 2012, Sandra and I found about our incredible milagro. We refer to our newest member of the family as "Milagro" because earlier that week I secured a referral to a male fertility specialist for a semen analysis. Sandra and I were concerned that my previous successful battle with testicular cancer had negatively affected my ability to produce fertile semen. Luckily for us, the positive pregnancy test indicated that my swimmers were A-Okay. Sandra texted me an image of the pregnancy stick with the following message:

Here is how the scene unfolded:

I had just left work and arrived to our house without checking my cell phone. I remember sitting down at the dining room table with Pepito y Poncho. The three of us began to talk about our day. In the middle of our conversation, Sandra walked into the dining room and asked if I had checked my cell phone. I responded, "no." She nonchalantly encouraged me to the check my phone. I continued to talk to the boys and slowly reached down my pant's pocket and took my cell phone out. The phone indicated a received message from "Sandra." The text image and message was the following:

"I guess u dont need to get tested! I took a test and ur little swimmers r just fine! Estas listo para otro miembro para nuestra linda familia?!?!?!? Te amo muchisimo mi amor!"

A sea emotions took over my body. I instantly became shocked and paralyzed from the news. My fixation with the text message was only interrupted as I looked up to see Sandra. I was soon to become Dad! The feeling was incredible and exhilarating. The only thing that stopped me from jumping up and down was that we wanted to wait to tell Pepito and Poncho that they would be having a new little brother or sister.

Life has a very interesting way of unfolding for all of us. We have been blessed with such an unbelievable milagro. With our open hearts, we eagerly accept this wonderful gift of life.
